Aston Martin unveiled the latest iteration of the James Bond car at London’s Pinewood Studios on Thursday. Daniel Craig‘s 007 will drive in the car in the Sam Mendes-directed Spectre, the 24th installment in the Bond franchise, set for release in November 2015.
Ten of the cars — dubbed the DB10 — will be hand-built at Aston Martin’s headquarters in Gaydon, U.K., expressly for use in the movie. The company said that it worked closely with Mendes and the movie’s production staff on the design of the car.
There was speculation that the DB10 may ultimately enter production as a replacement for Aston Martin’s DB9 or V8 Vantage models. The company said that the DB10 “gives a glimpse to the future design direction for the next generation of Aston Martins.”
Although Bond has driven a variety of exotic cars throughout the franchise’s history, 007 is most closely associated with Aston Martin, especially the DB5, with its ejection seat and machine guns. The DB5 appeared in six Bond films, starting with 1964’s Goldfinger and most recently in Skyfall, where one of the iconic cars is destroyed in the finale.
