The Kardashian sisters announced on their website that they are writing a novel and are sponsoring a fan contest to find a title.
Publisher William Morrow describes the book as the story of “three gorgeous celebrity sisters, their complicated relationships with Hollywood, each other and the glamorous lives they lead in front of the cameras and behind the scenes.” On their website, the sisters added, “You’ll have to decide for yourself which story lines are true to life and which ones we dreamed up. LOL.”
To promote the book due out Nov. 1, the sisters are sponsoring a title contest by asking fans to tweet @harpercollins a suggestion and the hash tag #TitleMeK. The sisters will pick the finalists and fans can vote on a winner starting June 1. In addition to getting to name the book, the winner gets a “walk on” role in the new novel.
The Kardashian’s first book, Kardashian Konfidential, part memoir and part style guide, was a New York Times best seller with 177,674 copies sold in 2010 (and more than 75,000 additional copies shipped so far in 2011). With this novel, the Kardashians are following Nicole Richie (Priceless, The Truth About Diamonds), Lauren Conrad (L.A. Candy), and Snooki (A Shore Thing) into fiction.
Reality star novels have been a good bet for publishers recently. All three authors appeared on the New York Times best-seller list with Conrad’s L.A. Candy trilogy selling 878,000 books in 2010.
In a February cover story, THR reported that the Kardashians — which have several reality series on E! — earned $65 million last year through Twitter and various products.
