Rachelle Lefevre is headed to ABC.
The Under the Dome and Twilight grad has joined the cast of the network’s drama pilot Doomsday.
The drama is set in the aftermath of Sept. 11, when the U.S. government instituted a secret think tank comprised of the most creative minds in science and entertainment who were tasked solely with dreaming up manmade disaster scenarios and their possible solutions. The ideas they invented were so dangerous that the list was sealed and the program shut down. But when a catastrophe occurs that seems ripped from the pages of the missing doomsday book, the team is brought back years later to prevent the disasters of their own making.
Lefevre will portray Faye, the interim deputy director who is described as whip-smart and shrewd, who was against the organization of the Doomsday group the first time around and isn’t keen on using it now.
The casting brings Lefevre back to ABC, where she starred in the short-lived Shondaland drama Off the Map. Her credits include Swingtown and Life on a Stick. She’s repped by Gersh, Pearl Hanan Management and Meyer Downs.
Justified‘s Mark Bianculli and VJ Boyd are penning the script for Sony Pictures Television and will exec produce alongside CSI alum Carol Mendelsohn and Julie Weitz. Lefevre joins a cast that also includes Jack Davenport and Dan Byrd.
