Reports have surfaced that U.S. men’s national team defender DeAndre Yedlin is in talks for a transfer to AS Roma.

After a strong World Cup campaign where his daring runs and solid offensive prowess were put on the world’s biggest stage, the Seattle Sounders man has drawn a large interest from many European clubs.

But Roma has appeared as the front runner and appears to be in talks with the Sounders to sign their right back and allow him to be loaned back to Seattle to gain more first team experience.

This would most likely prove valuable to Yedlin, as he has only been in professional soccer for two years. After becoming the Sounders first player to sign a Homegrown contract, the former Akron standout has impressed for club and country.

Yedlin had a solid year for Seattle last season, bagging six assists and helping the Sounders in their playoff push for the MLS Cup; and after three substitute appearances for the Stars and Stripes, he could now be playing for one of most exciting and young squads in Serie A.

Roma will potentially be pushing for the title again after finishing second in the Italian top flight last season. And after a record breaking start to the season last year, the Giallorossi look a force to be reckoned with for the coming season.

And if the rumors about Yedlin are true, then he could be a major component in helping Roma defend its high place in the table.

Also of note is that Ashley Cole could also be on the move to the Italian capital and if that move pans out then Cole could be the perfect tutor for the young defender.

The former-Chelsea man was stalwart in the England squad and has plenty of experience and lessons to share with Yedlin on how to become a better back.

AS Roma did wonders for Michael Bradley's career when he was there during a successful year long stint, perhaps Roma can do the same for the former Zip if he makes his way to Rome in the near future.
