Thunderbirds Are Go! - Thunderbird 1 unveiled ahead of launch of new series starring Rosamund Pike
The design stays true to the original created in the 1960s
Fans of the cult TV programme Thunderbirds have been given their first glimpse of the new Thunderbrid 1 rocket, as it will appear in the a new version of the show.
Purists will be pleased that the aircraft looks almost exactly the same as it did almost five decades ago when the first series of the children’s show was launched.
Thunderbirds Are Go! will be screened by ITV, and features a number of well-known names who will play the characters who first seen when the series was originally launched by the late Gerry Anderson in 1965.
Wrath of the Titans actress Rosamund Pike will voice Lady Penelope, while Kayvan Novak - from Channel 4's Facejacker - plays inventor Brains. Thomas Brodie-Sangster from Game Of Thrones will be John Tracy.
David Graham, who was in the original cast, will revive his role as chauffeur Parker.
While the original series featured puppets, the new version will mix CGI animation with live action sets. The creators appear to have avoided using an live-action cast after the 2004 flop Thunderbirds starring Vanessa Hudgens.
Executive producer Giles Ridge said: “The iconic characters, craft, music and story elements of the original have been lovingly re-imagined for a 21st century audience.”
