Iván Rakitić’s 2014/15 season in the Liga BBVA with FC Barcelona

• The Croatian international joined FC Barcelona in search of newer challenges after winning the UEFA Europa League with Sevilla FC, and his decision has proven a good one. He gained the trust of Luis Enrique in the centre of the midfield and has acted as an effective replacement for the legendary Xavi Hernández in terms of taking on the creative role. Rakitić has readily taken to his new duties and featured in 32 Liga BBVA games, starting 23 of them.

• During his first season with the Catalan outfit, the Balkan notched up five Liga BBVA goals and played a key role during Barcelona’s crunch matches. He started in the title-deciding game against Atlético Madrid, against Athletic Club in the Copa del Rey final and against Juventus in the UEFA Champions League showdown.

• Rakitić has also demonstrated his great vision with Barcelona, providing seven assists in the domestic competition. His wont for playing between the lines has allowed him to show off his incredible footballing abilities for yet another season.
