How To Measure Design System Adoption (https://lnkd.in/ekSjjfyh), a case study by Pinterest team on how they measure adoption of their design system at scale. Teams often use the growth in number of components, component instances and insertions as indicators of a healthy design system. But it’s not very actionable, and it doesn’t say if these components are actually used. I absolutely love the approach that the Pinterest team has developed. For a given page, they look at the relative adoption measure of components from their design system in the files that have been edited in the last 2 weeks. They only look at pages marked as “handoff.” Typically, only these pages get into the product. This gives the team a rolling measure of how new designs are handling adoption. The team has built a tool called FigStats that tracks their design files and highlights total use across Pinterest. Fantastic idea and fantastic work, Ravi L. and the Pinterest team! 👏🏼👏🏽👏🏾 #ux #design #designsystems
