An island in the city... How cool is that? Explore one of the most beautiful city islands in the world, Kampa Island.

An island in the middle of a city? Even though Kampa may not feel it, technically Kampa Island is a small island because it’s surrounded by water on all sides. The Vltava to the east and the tiny tiny Devil’s Chanel to the west officially make Kampa an island.

The island is a fun place to explore with a bunch of random attractions and sights. There’s literally a row of yellow penguins that can be found on a metal beam sticking out of the Vltava River. They glow up at night and are actually pretty cool!

Then you have the giant crawling babies. But at this point, that’s quite normal for Prague. So the theme here is art and Kampa Island actually has a modern Art Museum right on the island. So now it all makes sense!

  • The Devil’s Chanel isn’t actually natural by any means but was artificially made to provide a waterway to power the watermills that used to operate there in the past.
  • Inside the Museum which is filled with Modern Art, you will find mostly art from central Europe and specifically from the Czech Republic.
  • Kampa Island offers beautiful views of the city and Charles Bridge as well. A perfect spot for some great photos of the Czech capital.
  • Czech out the crawling babies in Kampa Island. They might be creepy but they’re super iconic for Czech Republic and Prague (take a look at the Zizkov TV tower and you’ll know what we mean.)
