Striker started against Costa Rica
Diego Forlán started Uruguay's game against Costa Rica last night to reach the historic milestone of playing at three World Cups with the South American nation.
Forlán now only trails Pedro Rocha, who played for Uruguay at Chile 62, England 66, Mexico 70 and West Germany 74.
Forlán made his senior international debut on 27th March 2002 in a friendly against Saudi Arabia, and has since gone on to become Uruguay's stand out leader on the pitch.
Forlán was outstanding during the 2010 South Africa World Cup. He scored five goals in 7 games and was amongst the tournament's top scorers. FIFA also named him the tournament's MVP.
