Winning the Gold Cup crown for Mexico left great things for Francisco Guillermo Ochoa, who became the player with the most Gold Cup titles in history with five.
Mexico won the 2023 edition of the CONCACAF Gold Cup on Sunday night against Panama by a 1-0 score. Santiago Gimenez was the savior for El Tri with a late goal in the second half.
Guillermo Ochoa's Gold Cup Records
Adding to his record book, Ochoa also was proclaimed the tournament's golden glove winner, making this the second occasion he has won the award.
The goalkeeper is also now the Mexican player with the most games played in the Gold Cup, surpassing Andrés Guardado who had 24.
The captain of the Mexican squad reached 25 games played in the CONCACAF tournament and it is expected that he can increase that number in the 2025 edition since he has mentioned on several occasions that he wants to keep playing for El Tri.
Memo Ochoa's Gold Cup titles
When Memo Ochoa stepped up to the podium to lift the 2023 Gold Cup as Jaime Lozano's designated captain, he made history and made a statement that puts him at the top of Mexico's list of all-time best goalkeepers.

Ochoa had previously won the CONCACAF Gold Cup in the 2009, 2011, 2015, and 2019 editions.
The Mexican National Team is still going through a transition period while the federation is trying to find a permanent head coach, but one thing that Mexico can be sure of (even if the FIFA World Cup is still three years away), is that they have one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
