There are just 14 footballers that have had the honour and luck to play alongside both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The last player to join this group is Miralem Pjanic while Arthur Melo, who made the reverse trip to Turin, was the one before the Bosnian.

Interestingly, both made their official debuts with their respective new teams last Sunday.

Defenders: Heinze, Garay, Pique and Semedo

Gabriel Heinze has the privilege of saying that he was the first footballer who played with Messi and Cristiano.

The versatile Argentine defender played with the former in the Argentine national team between 2005 and 2010 and the latter at Manchester United between 2004 and 2007.

Ezequiel Garay is another Argentine that played with Ronaldo from 2009-11 at Real Madrid.

With Messi he won the U20 World Cup and lost the 2011 and 2015 Copa America finals, as well as the World Cup in 2014.

Meanwhile, Gerard Pique is the only Spanish player to have played alongside both superstar,s and the only player to have won the Champions League with the two forwards.

The Catalan centre-back played with Ronaldo at Manchester United before returning to the Camp Nou to join forces with Messi.

Nelson Semedo is another outfielder that has played with both, as he won the Nations League with Portugal last year as well as two LaLiga Santander titles, a Copa del Rey and a Supercopa de Espana with Barcelona.

Midfielders: Gago, Deco and Andre Gomes

Fernando Gago won an Olympic gold medal with Messi at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and played at Real Madrid during Cristiano's first two years with Los Blancos.

Andre Gomes and Deco also had the fortune to play with Messi at the Blaugrana and Ronaldo at the Portuguese national team.

Strikers: Tevez, Larsson, Higuain, Di Maria and Dybala

Angel di Maria, Carlos Tevez, Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala are another four Argentines who played alonngside with Ronaldo.

While the former was teammates with the Portuguese forward at Los Blancos, the rest played with him at Juventus.

Last but not least, Henrik Larsson played alongside Messi and won the 2006 Champions League with the Blaugrana.

The former Swedish striker, who is currently member of Ronald Koeman's coaching staff, was also teammates with Ronaldo during the first half of 2007 when he joined Manchester United on loan.
