Danica Patrick, a NASCAR driver who is so far the only woman to have won a race in the IndyCar Series, has opened up on her story after undergoing breast augmentation surgery and suffering from what she called "breast implant disease".

The 40-year-old underwent surgery on April 27 to remove the breast implants she got in 2014 after believing the silicone was slowly poisoning her.

Patrick admits that after removing the breast prostheses she feels healthier, her scalp is healthier, her skin is better and her lymph nodes are not swollen.

"I wish I had told this 32-year-old that boobs would not make her more perfect or more feminine," she wrote on social media.

Since 2018, she has had problems with menstruation, and suffered from weight gain, dizziness and hair loss due to "breast implant disease".
