Director Tim Burton has made no secret of the fact that he is against the use of Artificial Intelligence in the film industry, describing the technology as a robot that steals your soul.

He has been backed in this viewpoint by actor Nicolas Cage, who is upset about how his cameo in 'The Flash' ended up.

White House takes on artificial intelligence challenges with new executive order

Although Cage doesn't think AI was used to alter his performance, he has spoken about how the final version of 'The Flash' doesn't add up with what he filmed on set.

"First and foremost, I was on set," he said, speaking to Yahoo.

"They put a lot of time into building the suit.

"What I was supposed to do was literally just be standing in an alternate dimension, if you will, and witnessing the destruction of the universe.

"Kal-El was bearing witness to the end of a universe, and you can imagine with that short amount of time that I had, what that would mean in terms of what I can convey.

"I had no dialogue so had to convey with my eyes the emotion. So that's what I did.

"I was on set for maybe three hours.

"When I went to the picture, it was me fighting a giant spider. I did not do that. That was not what I did."

Cage discussed AI in general, even while pointing out that he doesn't think it was AI that made him fight the giant spider.

"I don't think it was [created by] AI," he said.

"I know Tim [Burton] is upset about AI, as I am.

"It was CGI, OK, so that they could de-age me, and I'm fighting a spider.

"I didn't do any of that, so I don't know what happened there.

"But, I get where Tim's coming from. I know what he means. I would be very unhappy if people were taking my art and appropriating them.

"I get it. I mean, I'm with him in that regard.

"AI is a nightmare to me. It's inhumane. You can't get more inhumane than artificial intelligence."

'Superman Lives' was cancelled by Warner Bros

Cage appearing as Superman was a throwback to the film he was supposed to star in years ago, back in 1998.

The film 'Superman Lives', which was to star Cage and be directed by Tim Burton, didn't make it past the pre-production stage.

Warner Bros, after spending 10m dollars on it, decided to cancel the project three weeks before shooting was due to start.

However, images of Nicolas Cage doing costume fittings were recovered from the film.
