Ayr United manager David Hopkin says Rangers loanee Jamie Barjonas made a good impression on his Honest Men debut.
The midfielder has arrived in Ayrshire on loan from Rangers and made his maiden appearance in the 1-1 Scottish Championship draw with Dunfermline. Ayr United are currently battling for their league survival and the Scotland youth international looks to be a shrewd acquisition.
Hopkin believes the Rangers loanee could be a big player in the fixture run-in as he provides an injury update: “I thought we limited Dunfermline, a very good Dunfermline team, to very little. I thought our shape was great – I got the commitment I’ve been looking for. But we conceded a poor goal again.
“We then get back in the game, score a fantastic goal and after that, we should’ve pushed on and tried to score the winner. I thought we were comfortable. Our attacking play was better, our passing was better and I think the shape that we played today probably suited what we have available to us just now.
“On another day, I’m disappointed, but I thought we could’ve had three points.” Jamie Barjonas came in for his debut, I thought he looked good. I asked at half time if he could keep going to the end of the game – he’s a big, strong, powerful lad.
“I think the more games he gets, he’ll be great. Hopefully by next week, we’ll hopefully have Michael Moffat back, we’ll have Josh Todd back and hopefully one or two others.”
