On April 30, 1945, Adolf Hitler, dictator of Nazi Germany, committed suicide by a gunshot to the head. On Jan. 16, 1945, Hitler retreated to his shelter, the fuhrerbunker, to remain in Berlin as the war progressed into Germany. By late April, realizing that he had lost as the Soviets entered Berlin, Hitler decided that he would shoot himself. On the 70th anniversary of Hitler's death, take a look back at the life of the German dictator.

After taking control of the military and stripping dozens of generals from their commands, Hitler was in full control. Unemployment fell from six million to one million by 1936 as people were put to work on infrastructure from dams to roads. In the same year, Hitler opened the summer Olympic games in Berlin. It was also during this time that he began to implement a Four Year Plan to prepare Germany for war. By 1938, Hitler’s foreign policy was ultimately aimed at war believing that Germany's economic crisis could only be stopped by military aggression.

Since 1939, there had been many plans to assassinate Hitler. By 1944, the Red Army and the Western Allies were advancing into Germany. Hitler used his remaining reserves against American and British troops with no luck. Knowing that the end was near, Hitler moved into his bunker by Jan. of 1945 and decided to kill himself before anyone else could by April. On April 30, 1945, Hitler killed himself with what was believed to be a gunshot to the head.

Already highly effective at speaking to large audiences, Hitler gave a speech to a crowd of more than 6,000 people in Feb. of 1921. Hitler quickly gained popularity for his speeches against the Treaty of Versailles and especially against Marxists and Jews. By June, Hitler would take over as party chairman by a nearly unanimous vote. Two years later, Hitler would begin his "Beer Hall Putsch" where he would attempt to seize power in Munich with 2,000 men but eventually failed and was arrested.

After the war, Hitler returned to Munich where he was assigned to influence other soldiers and infiltrate the German Workers' Party. Becoming inspired by the founder Anton Drexler's anti-Semitic and nationalist ideas, Hitler later reached out to him and ended up joining in Sept. of 1919. It was during this time that Hitler developed his strong views of nationalism and even created the swastika to adorn the party's new banner after changing their name to the National Socialist German Workers Party.

Adolf Hitler definitely had his shortcomings.

The ruthless Nazi dictator suffered from a condition called hypospadias, which left him with a micropenis — and forced him to urinate from a hole at the base of the shaft, instead of the tip, according to an upcoming book.

In addition to an abnormally small manhood, Hitler only had one descended testicle, medical records show.

HITLER REALLY DID ONLY HAVE ONE TESTICLE, ACCORDING TO MEDICAL RECORDS

Adolf Hitler suffered from a condition called hypospadias, which left him with a micropenis, according to an upcoming book.

Newly-uncovered medical records about the Führer were researched for the book “Hitler’s Last Day: Minute by Minute,” which was written by historians Jonathan Mayo and Emma Craigie.

“Hitler himself is believed to have had two forms of genital abnormality: an undescended testicle and a rare condition called penile hypospadias in which the urethra opens on the underside of the penis,” the historians wrote, according to a Telegraph report.

Hypospadias is found in 1 in every 20,000 boys, and can lead to sexual performance difficulties later in life, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports.

In addition to hypospadias, medical records uncovered in December showed that Hitler likely suffered from an undescended testicle — a diagnosis that was made by a prison doctor following a 1923 arrest.

Records by Dr. Josef Steiner Brin, Landsberg prison’s medical officer, identified “Adolf Hitler, artist, recently writer” as “healthy and strong” but suffering from “right-side cryptorchidism.”

Cryptorchidism is when the testicle fails to descend properly.

The diagnoses lend credence to the song “Hitler has only got one ball,” a bawdy British propaganda song.
