Whenever I have an acai bowl I feel refreshed and better about myself. Despite the sweetness of the bowl I feel fulfilled and full because it is made of all natural healthy ingredients and predominantly fruit.

I usually try to have one of these bowls in the morning. When I do, it really does get my day off right. If you have not had an acai bowl yet I highly recommend it.

On my recent trip to Maui I had it all the time because on the island the tropical vibes and fresh fruit were everywhere.

The beauty of acai bowls is you can make it with any fruit that you would like. It does not have to be specifically “acai” I find sometimes that acai berries are very hard to find. So, I tend to make my bowls with frozen acai berries which is just as amazing and delicious.

For this recipe, I made the acai base with acai frozen berries, wild frozen blueberries, frozen banana, and a splash of all natural orange juice.

The secret to a cold and delicious acai bowl is to ensure that all the items you are blending is frozen. This way you will get a thicker smoothie like consistency but more close to a soft serve.

The consistency of the acai base will allow you to layer on all of your toppings and whatever you enjoy on your bowl.

For my bowl, I used the fruit that I had around the home. This included (strawberries, wild blueberries, bananas, and mango) the combo is delicious.

If you are craving ice cream but want something healthy, opt out for an acai bowl. It truly is delicious and refreshing. You will get a taste of island flavors and feel healthy eating it. Let me know if you try it, enjoy!
