Pokémon Go is hosting its second Eevee Community Day, which will span over a weekend from Aug. 13-16, 2021. Our Pokémon Go Eevee Community Day guide lists out the perks of Eevee’s Community Day, the exclusive moves Eevee’s evolutions learn, and the ways to make the most of your Community Day.

There are several event perks that are available from Aug. 13 at 1 p.m. until Aug. 16 at 1 p.m. EDT. This includes the special attacks the Eevee evolutions learn and special Timed Research Tasks. During this period, Sylveon will only require seven hearts to evolve instead of 70.

The usual Community Day perks, like increased spawn and Shiny rate, will be active on Aug. 14 and Aug. 15 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. in your local time.

How do I find a Shiny Eevee?

Community Day events have a heightened Shiny rate for the featured Pokémon, so if you’re playing, you should be able to find several Shiny Eevee. If you don’t have time to play all day, you can find a Shiny Eevee by popping an Incense, and tapping each Eevee that pops up. The Shiny rate on Community Days is approximately 1 in 25, according to The Silph Road’s research, so you should find a Shiny Eevee quickly.

A comparison between Shiny Eevee and its evolutions to its normal forms. Shiny Eevee is silver, Shiny Vaporeon is purple, Shiny Jolteon is green, Shiny Flareon is brown, Shiny Espeon is neon green, Shiny Umbreon has blue accents, Shiny Leafeon is darker, Shiny Glaceon is lighter, and Shiny Sylveon is blue. Eevee evolution names

There’s a naming trick to get the Eevee Evolution you want, guaranteed, but it only works once per evolution. The names are as follows:

Pokémon Go Eevee evolution names

Eevee Evolution Name/Nickname
Eevee Evolution Name/Nickname
Jolteon Sparky
Flareon Pyro
Vaporeon Rainer
Espeon Sakura
Umbreon Tamao
Leafeon Linnea
Glaceon Rea
Sylveon Kira

Without the naming trick, the ways to get the Eevee evolution you want are a bit more complex. Flareon, Jolteon, and Vaporeon all evolve randomly when you evolve an Eevee. You need to walk with Umbreon and Espeon as your buddy Pokémon for 10 kilometers, and then evolved them during the night and day, respectively. You can only obtain Leafeon and Glaceon when they’re evolved near a Mossy or Glacial Lure, respectively. Sylveon normally requires earning 70 hearts as your buddy Pokémon, but this number has been reduced to 7 for the event.

There’s more information on evolving Eeveelutions in our guide.

What Community Day moves do the Eevee evolutions learn?

When evolved any time from Aug. 13 at 1 p.m. until Aug. 16 at 1 p.m. EDT, your Eevee evolution will learn the following:

  • Vaporeon: Scald
  • Jolteon: Zap Cannon
  • Flareon: Superpower
  • Espeon: Shadow Ball
  • Umbreon: Psychic
  • Leafeon: Bullet Seed
  • Glaceon: Water Pulse
  • Sylveon: Psyshock

In addition to this, any Eevee caught or hatched during the event will learn Last Resort.

Based on past years, if you miss the Community Day period, you’ll likely be able to evolve your Eevee during the December Community Weekend event to get its respective move. You can also use an Elite TM to teach legacy Community Day-only moves.

How do the Eevee evolutions do in battle?

For raiding, you’ll want Leafeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon. The best raid movesets for them are as follows:

  • Leafeon: Razor Leaf and Leaf Blade
  • Glaceon: Frost Breath and Avalanche
  • Sylveon: Charm and Dazzling Gleam

For PvP, you’ll want an Umbreon and Sylveon for the differing tiers. Their best movesets are as follows:

  • Umbreon: Snarl with Last Resort and Foul Play
  • Sylveon: Charm and Psyshock and Moonblast

You can also replace Last Resort on Umbreon with Psychic to win some matchups.

How do I make the most of Eevee Community Day?

Eggs will hatch in 14 the usual time if you put them in an Incubator during the event period, so you should definitely hatch any long-distance eggs you’ve been holding on to. Incense used during the event will also last a whopping three hours, so you should use one (if you have one) to increase your Eevee spawns further.

The next level of puzzles.

Take a break from your day by playing a puzzle or two! We’ve got SpellTower, Typeshift, crosswords, and more.
