Emmy Rossum Celebrates Her Newborn Son's 2-Month Milestone

Emmy Rossum is an actor, director, and singer, but to her kids, she's just Mom. The 36-year-old star and husband Sam Esmail welcomed their first child, a daughter, in May 2021 and a son in April 2023. Despite keeping her personal life primarily private, the "Shameless" actor loves to share sweet family moments with her fans on Instagram but is always sure to never show her children's faces. By doing this, Rossum is not only able to highlight special moments with her two bundles of joy but also lets her supporters get a little glimpse into her life as a mother.
Rossum and Esmail tied the knot in 2017 after meeting four years prior on the set of their film "Comet," per People. Rossum starred as Kimberly in the movie, which was directed and written by Esmail, and by August 2015, they were engaged. Speaking to Vogue in 2017 about their engagement — which included Esmail mocking up a fake newspaper with their love story — Rossum recalled how it all played out.
"When I realized what it was and that the proposal was happening, I somehow thought, 'Well, the story can't be that I was in the bathtub when it happened,'" Rossum said, noting she was in the tub with a glass of wine while reading it. "So I got out of the bathtub wrapped in a towel, got cold, and then got back in the bathtub because the stories are quite long. And then by the time I finished the story, he was down on a knee in the bathroom, with me in the tub."

Rossum and Esmail welcomed their daughter in May 2021. She announced the happy news on Instagram alongside maternity photos, writing, "5.24.21 On a sunny Monday morning, at 8:13AM, we welcomed our daughter into the world."
The following month, Rossum opened up about her newborn in a post with a sweet snap of herself kissing the baby girl. "When I was pregnant I got vaccinated," she wrote, referring to the COVID-19 vaccine. "Not only did we have a healthy, beautiful baby girl but we also just learned our daughter now has antibodies. In short, stop being an irresponsible idiot and get the vaccine."
In June 2022, Rossum shared that her daughter had also gotten vaccinated. "An exciting day we've waited a long time for! Our daughter got her first covid vaccine," she wrote, sharing a pic of the tot sporting a bandaid.
Rossum shared another of her daughter's firsts in December 2022 when they visited Disneyland. "My daughter's first time and she agrees — it is the happiest place! So much joy with friends, family and Star Wars!!!"
The one thing all of Rossum's photos of her daughter show is that they share the same beautiful curly hair. In May 2022, Rossum spoke to Kelly Clarkson about how her daughter helped her on her journey to embracing her curly hair. "I also had a daughter and I was like, 'You know, I should just start wearing my hair the way it is,'" she explained. "Why should I tell her that she should make her hair look anything other than how it grows out of her head."

Rossum announced the birth of her son in April 2023 alongside an Instagram photo of his footprints. "04.05.23," she wrote, similar to the reveal of her daughter's birth. "On a foggy Wednesday morning, our son was born."
The following month, Rossum offered a look into her life as a mom of two, sharing a picture on her Instagram Stories of herself helping her daughter hold the newborn baby boy. In June 2023, Rossum celebrated her son's two-month milestone by posting a series of beautiful black-and-white photos.
