The first big name soccer star to choose retirement in 2022 was former Dutch international Davy Pröpper, who played with three different clubs over the course of his fourteen-year career but made his biggest impact at PSV Eindhoven. Former Mexico international forward Oribe Peralta also stepped away from the game after a storied career in Liga MX. Then longtime Tottenham Hotspur and Belgium midfielder Mousa Dembélé additionally called it a career.
