Carys Zeta Douglas had a low-key childhood

Despite having big-name parents, Carys was virtually unknown in the public eye until recently. Born in Ridgewood, New Jersey in 2003, Carys spent her childhood in Bermuda, far from the gaze of showbiz and paparazzi.

She was so far removed, in fact, that she didn’t know her Academy Award-winning dad’s background. “I thought my dad was a pancake maker,” she told Town & Country. “I didn’t know he was an actor. Honestly.”

By the time she turned six, the family moved to Manhattan, New York – which Carys hated at first, she told the publication.

She credits her mum and dad – 53 and 78, respectively – for the way she is today. “My parents do a really good job of reality-checking me and being like, ‘Look around you. The life you have is extraordinary,’” she told T&C.

With a style icon mum, it’s no wonder Carys is poised to take the fashion world by storm. She opted for a regal Elie Saab piece at Cannes, which featured hip cut-outs, dainty white lace and sheer details from the waist down.

It seems Carys has her heart set on music at the moment. A month ago, she sang Lady Gaga’s “Shallow” with The Honkytonks at a bar in Reykjavik, Iceland, as seen in a video posted by the musicians.

Zeta-Jones was quick to respond on the video to show her support, posting: “Carys!!!!! Amazing! Wish I was there. Love you. Have a blast baby.”

It’s not the first time Carys has expressed her passion for music, with Zeta-Jones previously posting a clip of her daughter singing Sara Bareilles’ “Little Black Dress” on Instagram.
