The Persis Corset is a gorgeous late Edwardian corset featuring dramatic swooping front panels and an elegantly curvaceous silhouette. It's inspired by the transitional corsets sold between 1907-1911, as the fashionable shape changed from the exaggerated curves of the early Edwardian era to the slim lines of the 1910s.

The Persis comes with three bust sizes (Small (A-B), Medium (C-D) & Large (DD/E+)) and two waist-to-hip ratio (hip flare) size sets: ‘Average’ with a 14” difference between waist and hip, and ‘Slender’ with a 10” difference between waist and hip, as well as a guide to fitting and alterations, making it easy to get the perfect fit.

Detailed fully illustrated instructions mean the Persis an excellent skill builder for sewers with some corsetmaking experience, or a good introduction to corsetmaking for the advanced sewer with no previous corsetmaking experienced.

View A features a scooped front neckline that ends at the nipple, slightly raised back neckline, and a bottom edge which curves up at the front of the legs before dipping down over the hips.

View B has a sweetheart neckline that dips lower between the breast than View A and curves up to sit just above the nipple, a high back neckline, and a bottom hem with a squared-off front hem point, less upward curve over the thighs, and a higher back hemline.

Both views have four garter straps. Front and back neck and hem lines can be mixed and matched between views.

The Persis Corset is the perfect corset to wear under the Fantail Skirt with an Ettie Petticoat.

Recommended Fabrics:
The Persis Corset is designed to be made with a single layer of midweight, very tightly woven, extremely stable, natural-fiber fabrics with no stretch or give whatsoever, such as coutil, satin or brocaded coutil, ticking, some plain weaves and denims, etc.

The Models:

Te KuraHuia (Ngāi Tara, Ngāti Ira, Ngāti Kuia, Ngāi Tahu, Ngāi Te Rangi, Ngāti Raukaua, NgāPuhi, Ngāti Apa ki te Rā Tō) is wearing a View A Persis Corset in Size 38, Medium Bust, Average hip flare. Her Persis is made of vintage dotted corsetry broche in pale pink, with bindings in cotton sateen.

Fipe is wearing a View B Persis Corset in Size 44, Medium Bust, Slender hip flare. Her corset is made of 100% cotton coutil in 'drab', with bindings in cotton sateen. Fipe is a size 46, and stepped in to model when the original model the corset was made for was unavailable. Ideally she would wear a Size 46, so the corset as shown on her has a larger lacing gap than the pattern is designed for, and does not have the additional boning channels of Size 46, which would provide more smoothing and support.
