Ali Larter says motherhood hasn’t changed her style

by

The actress seems to have it all: a handsome husband, amazing career and adorable baby boy (oh, and a fierce figure too). We caught up with Ali Larter as she hosted the Perrier-Jouet Champagne party in NYC to find out how she juggles it all and still has time for a glass of bubbly!

SheKnows: How does being a mom influence your fashion choices?

Ali Larter: It doesn’t! I don’t feel that my life has changed that much in that way. I’ve never been one to spend a lot of time on clothes anyway. My closet’s always a disaster! The difference is, now you can probably find a 2-year-old under those 10 dresses and five pairs of blue jeans.

SK: What maternity style advice do you have for expecting moms?

AL: Black, that was it for me. I felt better in it. I gained 45 pounds [during pregnancy], so I was a big girl!

SK: How did you get back into shape after having Theodore?

AL: I do believe that your body bounces back but that you have to work out. For me, so much of my life is about celebrating and then getting up the next morning and taking care of yourself. Tonight, I’m going to be out… I’m going to drink Champagne all night. I’m probably going to go have late night pizza with friends and then in the morning, I’m going to try to get up and go running. So it’s about finding balance and always savoring life.

Cetaphil Moisturizer with SunscreenSK: What beauty products are you loving these days?

AL: I am into drugstore finds, like inexpensive sunscreens. I love Cetaphil; I’ve always used it. I don’t think you need to spend a lot of money. But I love La Mer too! That’s my balance.

SK: What trends are you into for summer?

AL: I just saw this amazing spread of Dree Hemingway in Vogue this month and it’s kind of celebrating the ’50s Hemingway, so it’s big curls in hair and bright red lips and a checkered top and I’m really inspired by that.

SK: Have you ever had a fashion disaster or mishap?

AL: For sure! A lot of times it’s when you wear something that’s so uncomfortable and then you come home and have a bruise on your skin or boning’s popped out and you’ve cut yourself. I do that less and less. I’m someone who has to be comfortable in what they’re wearing, especially to have an easy night. I don’t like to miss a night, so I’m definitely not going to ruin it by having a dress that’s too tight!

SK: What’s your favorite part about being a mom?

AL: Life is bigger. It’s fuller. I have my cookbook coming out in September so that’s been nights and weekends and it’s about festive menus and inviting people into your life and having a great time… and then I’m working on my TV show and just constantly trying to find it all. But in the end, he just makes everything worthwhile.
