Ana is the short
word for Anorexia
and Mia is the short
word for Bulimia.
These nicknames are
a way to represent
eating disorders and
to make it easier for
people, most of
them teenagers, to
talk openly about
them.

11. In the corner, sitting on the kitchen counter is depression. Beside the
depression is anorexia bones. Sitting at the table with pills in hand
and crying is anxiety. In the refrigerator is bulimia, something like
choking on vomit food before, and self-injury-cuts-whispering, urging
her to cut, and the teenager falling in all of them, look at his face, it’s
like a mixture of all disorders. The eyes and the smiles of self-injury,
depression and anorexia are scary, are as creepy.
