Honda hybrid fans have something to cheer about. The brand's most popular model, the CR-V, added a new trim level to its 2024 lineup: the hybrid-only Sport-L.
This exclusive hybrid trim bridges the gap between the SUV model's Sport Hybrid base and the premium Sport Touring Hybrid. The CR-V hybrid was introduced in 2020. According to Honda, hybrids now represent more than half of CR-V sales and are "a key step in the Honda electrification strategy."
2024 CR-V Hybrid vs. CR-V
CR-V hybrids get 10-more combined miles per gallon than their traditional gas-powered siblings (40 vs. 30). If that does not seem like a lot, consider this. Over a standard 36-month lease at 10,000 miles per year, a 2024 CR-V Hybrid will consume about 250 fewer gallons of gas than a non-hybrid one. With a national gas price average of $3.71 per gallon for regular unleaded (as of July 2023), that's a potential savings of approximately $925 over the lease's term.The 2024 CR-V Hybrid Sport-L has a driving range of up to 560 miles. The gas-powered CR-V's fuel range is up to 420 miles.
None of the 2024 or 2023 Honda CR-Vs have available reliability scores as of this writing, but to date there have been no safety recalls issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The 2022 CR-V Hybrid earned a 5 out of 5 reliability rating from J.D. Power.

The 2024 Honda CR-V Sport-L also delivers 204 total horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque. That is the same across all CR-V hybrid trims.
However, the Sport-L has standard features not available in the Sport, such as:
- A power-operated tailgate.
- 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system (two inches larger than the Sport's).
- 320-watt audio system with eight speakers (Sport has 240 watts with six speakers).
- Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility.
