This fascinating early sheet is by the same hand as a second drawing, also Attributed to Piero di Cosimo, depicting an Adoration of the Christ Child with the Young Saint John the Baptist, in the collection of the Albertina, Vienna.1
Interestingly, alongside their clear graphic similarities and shared subject matter, both sheets also possess the same 18th Century English provenance, having passed through the collections of Robert Udny (1722-1802) and the fourth President of the Royal Academy, Sir Thomas Lawrence (1769-1830).
