The Ontario Fury has announced that retired United States men’s national duo Landon Donovan and Jermaine Jones will play for the United States National Arena Soccer Team (USNAST) in a friendly against Mexico on May 31, 2019. The match will take place at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California.

Citizens Business Bank Arena is the home of Major Arena Soccer League’s (MASL) Ontario Fury. Jones joined the Fury on March 12, 2019 and recorded 10 goals and four assists, while appearing in the team’s last five games.

Despite Jones’ impressive performance, the Fury failed to qualify for the playoffs after finishing 3rd in the four-team Pacific Division.

Donovan signed with MASL’s San Diego Sockers on January 24, 2019. He made eight regular season appearances, scoring five goals and adding 11 assists.

He did not record a goal or assist during two playoff appearances. The Sockers were eliminated in the Western Conference Finals by the Monterrey Flash.

While Jones and Donovan’s participation has been confirmed, the rosters for both the U.S. and Mexico have yet to be announced. The U.S. is coached by Sockers’ head coach Phil Salvagio.
