More and more United States internationals are looking to make the move to MLS and DaMarcus Beasley may be the latest. Diario Cambio is reporting that Beasley has told Puebla president Jesus Lopez Chargoy that he wants to leave the club this summer and return to MLS. The plan is for him to join the league after the World Cup.

At 31 years old, Beasley is the type of player who fits the mold of returning internationals. He's not young, like Michael Bradley, or expensive, like Clint Dempsey, but he's a good player who can still play at a high level and isn't chasing the European dream anymore. He played in the Champions League, he's succeeded in Mexico and now, he can return to MLS and contribute for a good team.
Making Beasley's decision to leave easier is Puebla's financial troubles. The club's players were not paid bonuses from the 2013 Apertura and anywhere from one month to three months pay in March, depending on who you asked. The players protested and threatened not to play a match. Eventually all of the club's players were paid, but Puebla are still in financial trouble so it wouldn't be a surprise to see more players try to get out this summer.
Beasley left the Chicago Fire in 2004, when he signed for PSV Eidnhoven. Because PSV paid a transfer free, they do not have his rights and he would be subject to allocation. Toronto FC currently top the allocation order, but they do not have any Designated Player spots left. The Columbus Crew are second and they could offer him a DP contract.
Of course, there is also the possibility of a team trading for a spot high on the allocation order to draft him, while the anticipated influx of internationals this summer could turn the entire allocation process into a mess so where he lands at this point is a pure guessing game. But betting on a MLS return for Beasley, that seems like a decent bet.
