Rachel McAdams has had a lot of significant roles in her career, but chief among them is undoubtedly the iconic Regina George from Mean Girls, from whom we were blessed with some pretty epic one-liners. Though Rachel has a lot of versatility as an actress (her role in The Notebook was also iconic, and distinctly not-Regina-esque) she says that she's somewhat followed by her time as Miss George, and that she's most recognized for it.

"Does Regina George haunt me every day? She does have that quality," she told the New York Times. "I have to thank Regina George for giving me some longevity. I’m forever grateful to Tina Fey and Mark Waters. I remember when I read [the script for Mean Girls], I called my agent right away and said, 'I will play any part in this, please, please, please.' I was at the beginning of my career, and it was a lofty thing out there, that I really, really, really wanted to do. I’m always looking for larger-than-life characters, which is probably why I like playing villains. They get away with so much."

While she's been the leading lady many times in her career, she says that she actually enjoys playing supporting roles sometimes. "I certainly don’t mind playing supporting roles at all," she added. "I would be a basket case if I always played the lead role. Sometimes it’s nice to put the same amount of work into a character that has less screen time. You can dig into them but you also get to nap in your trailer for half the day, too."

And even though she's made headlines for her part in recent films like Spotlight or hits like The Time Traveler's Wife, it's interesting to learn that she's still somewhat defined by her iconic early 2000s character. But let's be honest, we imagine that's just how Regina would want it to be.
