Robert Pattison has been pretty open about what it was like to become an overnight sensation while filming Twilight. Despite almost getting fired from the hit franchise (yep seriously), the actor basically skyrocketed to fame, and even had to hide in car trunks to avoid the paparazzi. And even though there were certainly drawbacks to being in the spotlight so much, Robert is definitely grateful for the opportunity to be part of such a huge film. In fact, he basically credits Twilight for the success of his career.

While speaking during the "Have a Good Time With Robert Pattinson" panel at the Vulture Festival LA yesterday (Saturday, November 18), Robert was asked to share his "secret" to success. His answer? "All you have to do is f*ck up auditions for five years and then get Twilight," he responded. TBH, we're pretty sure Robert would have found success anyway, but his portrayal of Edward Cullen sure didn't hurt.

During the panel, Robert also talked about his latest film: a crime thriller called Good Time. The actor revealed that he based his character, Connie Nikas, on a real man from New York City who apparently lives in a hole in the ground. "It’s the best story ever," Robert explained. "This guy lived in this hole in the ground and burrowed through into someone’s house." It sure sounds interesting (and slightly scary), and there's no doubt that Robert was able to pull off the character flawlessly.
