Zendaya is embracing the mermaidcore trend in a big way this summer. The star ditched her cute bob haircut in favor of super-long waves that are giving magical enchanted sea siren in a big way.
Zendaya attended the Louis Vuitton menswear spring/summer 2024 collection in Paris; she's an ambassador for the luxury fashion house, so we weren't surprised to see her sit front row for Pharrell's first show as creative director for Louis Vuitton men's. The Euphoria star wore her hair in the lushest, flowing curls down her back almost to her hips, similar to the look she wore for her surprise appearance at Coachella, and kept the warm and sunny summer vibes going with peachy-bronze makeup on her lids, lips, and cheeks.
It wasn't just the hair that gave off the mermaidcore magic. Zendaya wore a head-to-toe sequined Vuitton top and pants from the brand's cruise collections, a set that shimmered with her every step. The earthy tones, swirling textured pattern, and the unbuttoned low-cut top, plus that rich jeweled drop necklace, beautifully complimented Zendaya's flowing waves. A black top-handle Louis Vuitton bag and a pastel sea blue manicure finished off her look.
Mermaidcore is making waves (pun intended) this season, thanks to The Little Mermaid and star Halle Bailey's many mermaid-inspired red carpet looks, plus Dua Lipa as a Mermaid Barbie in the Barbie movie. The aesthetic has exploded on TikTok, with talented creators transforming themselves into mermaids with pearls, wet-look hairstyles, and shimmery makeup. Designers like Versace and Bach Mai have put their stamp on the mermaidcore trend, too, with Megan Thee Stallion appearing in a mermaid gown at the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty.
Now that Zendaya has co-signed the look, get ready to see plenty more mermaids on the beach and the red carpet this summer.
