GREY'S Anatomy star Kevin McKidd looks unrecognisable in photos from his big break in Trainspotting 26 years ago.

The Scots actor played tragic heroin addict Tommy in the iconic movie, alongside Ewan McGregor and Ewan Bremner.

With the classic Danny Boyle flick going on to win a number of awards, including two British Academy Film Awards.

The Elgin-born performer originally enrolled at the University of Edinburgh to study engineering, before shifting gears to study drama.

More than two decades later, the 48-year-old looks totally different after starring in a string of well-known films.

He's also appeared in a raft of popular TV shows including Grey's Anatomy and Father Ted.

In recent years, the fan favourite was a hit in a TV adaptation of Star Wars and also provided a voice-over in the Pixar animation Brave.

It comes after the Scots star released a song in honour of Breonna Taylor - the black health worker shot dead by cops in the US.

The actor revealed, on Instagram, that he’s recorded a cover of Snow Patrol track Chasing Cars alongside poet Azure Antoinette.

His caption on a teaser clip read: “In honour of Breonna Taylor and the many continued Black lives LOST.”

McKidd's not the only Scots actor who looks unrecognisable, Taggart legend Blythe Duff looks totally different – 31 years after her debut as Jackie Reid.

The East Kilbride-born actress shot to fame in 1990 when she joined the cast of hit crime drama.

Loyal viewers followed the character's journey for over two decades, as she played the long-suffering wife of the eponymous character.
