Antonio Cassano makes THIRD u-turn by terminating his contract with Hellas Verona five-days after joining following previous ‘retirement’
The striker hangs up his boots for the second time in less than a week, despite agreeing a one-year-deal with the club earlier this month
ANTONIO CASSANO has reportedly terminated his contract with Hellas Verona and will retire from football for the second time in just five days.
The former Italy international has changed his mind again and will end his career now due to 'high stress levels'.
The 35-year-old is unhappy at Verona because his family have opted to remain in Genoa, which is about 180 miles away from his new club - according to Football Italia.
Cassano originally announced his retirement just a week after joining the Italian club, before reversing the statement later that day.
Staff at Verona managed to talk him round and they offered the striker one final chance - which he snapped up.
The former Real Madrid, AC Milan and Inter Milan player was set to quit after playing no part in the 2016/17 season.
Cassano agreed a one-year contract with the newly promoted side earlier this month.
The Italian is renowned for his controversial behaviour, but this is astonishing even for him.
Cassano shot to prominence in 1999 after he scored a last minute winner against Inter Milan.
Following his transfer to Real Madrid in 2006, the 35-year-old adopted the nickname "Gordito" - meaning The Little Fat One.
As notes by the Daily Telegraph, the striker was regularly out of shape and was fined by Madrid for every gram overweight he was.
He went on to win La Liga with Los Blancos in 2006-2007, followed by a tremendous spell with Sampdoria.
