Deadpool Star Gina Carano Joins Star Wars Series The Mandalorian

Every day brings with it new and exciting news regarding the projects coming out of Disney's upcoming streaming service. On Wednesday, Varietyreported that former MMA star and Deadpoolactress Gina Carano is joining Game of Thrones alum Pedro Pascal in The Mandalorian, the new live-action Star Wars series being helmed by Jon Favreau for the service.

Carano, whose acting credits also include Haywireand Fast & Furious 6, went 7-1 while competing in organizations like Strikeforce and EliteXC. Will these skills be put to use in The Mandalorian? No one knows because no one has any details regarding her role. Maybe she'll play an accountant for the rebels!

One of two confirmed Star Wars series coming to Disney+, the new streaming service set to launch in 2019, The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire but before the rise of the First Order. It follows a lone gunfighter who's managed to escape the authority of the New Republic on the outer reaches of the galaxy.

The highly anticipated new series has lined up some serious star power behind the camera too. Thor: Ragnarok's Taika Waititi, actress and director Bryce Dallas Howard, Dope's Rick Famuyiwa, and Marvel's Jessica Jones' Deborah Chow are all set to direct the series.
