How is a fanatic fan created?

How can people waste their lives on obsessions?

…obsessions for Corinthians, Flamengo, Yankees, Red Sox, Man United, Arsenal or any other club.

Can we explain the inexplicable?

One thing is certain: a fanatic does not use reason.

He only feels.

Fanaticism is the result of blind obedience… to religion, a political party, a sports club or to a person.

An adult does not become a fanatical fan.

Fanaticism is created in children.

In the absence of reason, all their energy is focused on the feelings of their hearts.

Parents begin this process of “conversion” by taking their child to packed stadiums.

The colors mixed with the chants of the crowd, stimulate blind devotion.

From then on, that child is obsessed, and continues to be obsessed throughout his life.

People change religions, change husbands and wives, their professionals, anything except their team.

What is the practical benefit of all this?

Not one thing.

As an ex-Botafogo supporter (Brazilian soccer team), I can assure you, the disappointments and sadness were greater than the good times.

This happens to all fans.

But even the good times add nothing to my life.

The young adult goes to college, is taught information, ideas and thoughts.

He is given an education.

If he devotes himself to his studies and puts his education into practice, his future is guaranteed… at least in theory.

But the same does not apply to intelligent faith.

It is not created by chance, or by the influence of others.

Instead, it is a revelation from the Throne of the Almighty, Isaiah 53.1.

Profound, precious and powerful, the revelation of supernatural faith makes dreams come true.

It brings into existence what does not exist.

It has no limits.

It was this way with Abraham.

He heard the Voice of God and followed His direction.

The result: he himself became a blessing.

Throughout his life, there were no limits to what he could do.

“Now Abraham was old, well advanced in age; and the Lord had blessed Abraham in all things,” Genesis 24.1.

How can we explain this quality of faith?

We can’t.

You can only live it by being obedient.

Abraham was the first to have an intelligent faith.

He thought to himself: If the Creator is my partner, nothing is impossible for me.

This conviction led him to obey unconditionally…

And to blessings.
