BIGNONIA unguis-cati (=Macfadyena unguis-cati)

Description

Semi-deciduous climbing plant with thin and flexible stems growing upwards through natural harpoons, similar to cat claws, that’s the reason of the name of the species. Ideal for covering arbors and railings, walls or fences. The main flowering occurs in spring and it is made up of showy yellow trumpets of considerable size; it can also last throughout summer even if in a more sporadic and less intense way. Like many other climbing plants, it can be left to grow freely to cover the soil with a large and thick green carpet, or to form a majestic green waterfall hanging from the top of a wall.

Suggestions

It prefers sunny expositions and well drained soils. Sporadic summer watering can improve the growth of this plant. If it is necessary, prune it during the vegetative regrowth.
