Beauty Moment: Georgia May Jagger on Alexander Wang, London Life, and the Mascara She Can't Live Without

In our January issue, Vogue celebrates the rising star of one Georgia May Jagger. In our January issue, Vogue celebrates the rising star of one Georgia May Jagger. The 21-year-old British beauty, who took on modeling full-time after finishing her studies at the London College of Communications last year, was an ubiquitous presence on runways from Alexander Wang to Isabel Marant and Balmain at the recent spring collections. Armed with her signature gap-toothed smile and an excess of bombshell charisma (would you expect anything less from the youngest daughter of Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall?), she’s also the face of the iconic U.K. beauty brand Rimmel. Besides the indelible It factor, Jagger also seems to have inherited her parents’ jet-setting bohemian tendencies. During a one-night stopover in New York City between back-to-back holidays in India (“it was my first time there, incredible”) and Japan, Jagger sat down to talk about three of her favorite things: fashion, photography, and mascara.

You were everywhere on the spring 2014 runways. Any exciting moments?
I finished school last June and I’ve just started doing the shows. I think Alex Wang was my favorite. I love him and I love the clothes. They’re really good for me, really wearable. And then his sets—he always has fun ideas.

Your look has been compared to a cross between Brigitte Bardot and Lara Stone. Thoughts?
People do say that. It’s obviously a big honor! I don’t see it as much as other people—maybe because it’s me.

The shows may be new for you, but you snapped up a Rimmel beauty contract right out of the gate when you were just seventeen.
The first casting I ever went to was for Rimmel. I had to [deliver] the “Get the London Look” line and I was really, really nervous about it. I was a bit too young then, so they called me back two years later and I started doing their commercials, along with commercials for Hudson jeans.

Any memorable jobs in particular?
When we shoot for Rimmel, it’s like shooting a movie. Val Garland does the makeup. She’s incredible. Malcolm [Edwards] does the hair. We have a good giggle. For the Rimmel Moisture Renew lipstick commercial, I was under a rain machine for, like, seven hours. It’s quite a challenge, as you can imagine, to shoot lipstick under a rain machine. There was also a lot of waterproof mascara involved.

You enjoy being behind the camera, as well as in front of it.
I’m very into photography, which is what I did at school. And I’m hoping to get more into that in the future. I learn a lot from being at work on set. I pay attention to what’s going on. It’s really the best place to learn, because you don’t just learn the technical stuff. You learn to be part of a team.

When you’re off duty, any essential beauty products?
Mascara is the big one. The new Rimmel Scandaleyes Retro Glam has this crazy brush that goes in and out like an hourglass. It separates the lashes but isn’t too wet, so you can keep applying it. Often, I hang on to a tube for a while, because I like it when it dries out, so you can [layer on] a lot. Thick mascara is definitely one of my favorite looks. I’m also into the new BB Cream because it’s not as heavy as makeup. For night, it’s lipstick. The Kate Moss [for Rimmel] ones are really good because they’re matte but you don’t get that chalkiness.

Makeup aside, any big plans for the year ahead?
I’ve just bought a house in London and I’m doing it up!
