Alessandra Young joined the 8 on Your Side team in December 2023 as a nightside reporter. Earlier in her career, she reported in South Carolina and Virginia. In Virginia, she was part of a team that received an Edward Murrow for team coverage of riots. 

From hurricanes to snowstorms, Alessandra has covered a variety of different weather-related events. Since 2019, she has told stories in multiple communities, hoping to give every person a voice. She looks forward to the sunshine, beaches, and wonderful people. She is determined to cover the good news, as well as the tough news that needs to be shared with the community. 

A proud Alumnus from Virginia Tech, Alessandra loves football. She received her Journalism degree in 2019, with a minor in Creative Writing.
