Description

Large spineless shrub. The name ‘junceum’ means rush-like, referring to the numerous bluish-green stems resembling the leaves of a rush.

The fibres were used to make cloth and rope.

Flowers

The large, bright yellow pea flowers are very fragrant, borne in profusion along the stems.

Leaves

Linear narrow blade leaf, like grass. Long and oblong, opposite on the stem, hairy beneath, sparse, 1-3 cm. April – May, soon falling.

Fruits Seeds

Pod: flat, 5-8 cm long, 10-18 grains.
