When Bayern Munich advanced to the Champions League final in 2010, they did not have a strong enough goalkeeper to win the match against a talented Inter Milan attack.

However, now that they have the world's best goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer, the German side is well set up to capture their first European crown since 2001 when Munich plays Premier League club Chelsea at the Allianz Arena next month.

Neuer made two amazing saves against Real Madrid stars Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka to start the penalty shootout in Wednesday's second leg of the Champions League semifinal at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Neuer talked after the match to Sky Sports, saying:

"We've all worked very hard for this. In both games, we were on a par with them at the very least, and at the end of the day, we deserved to win.

"I was determined to save those penalties, although obviously luck plays its part."

Here is the video of the penalty shootout.

This was a difficult shootout for both teams since Neuer and Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas are probably the two best goalkeepers in the world. There isn't anyone else in their league, except maybe Lyon's Hugo Lloris.

This match showed the important of having a great goalkeeper, and it has really helped Munich in this competition.

Against Chelsea in the final, who will be without some key players such as Ramires due to yellow card suspensions, Neuer will lead the German club to the title in their home stadium in Munich.
