Coming off the international break, several Americans made the headlines, topped by a brace from Aron Johannsson and a goal from Jose Torres.

Brek Shea is also in the news again, and not in a positive light, and there's some important club news for Alejandro Bedoya.

There are also injury updates on Jozy Altidore, Stuart Holden and Eric Lichaj.

Read about all that and much, much more in this week's Americans Abroad Wrap.

In the English Premier League

Jozy Altidore was not in the 18 for Sunderland's 3-0 loss to Hull and has reportedly picked up an injury.

Geoff Cameron started and went the distance for Stoke in their 1-1 draw with Norwich.

Brad Guzan and Aston Villa did not play this weekend.

Finally, after a brilliant display midweek with the United States men's national team, Tim Howard was on the bench for Everton's 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Arsenal.

Fabian Johnson started again at right-back for Hoffenheim as they lost 4-0 to Schalke. Johnson was Hoffenheim's lowest-rated player.

Steve Cherundolo was not in the 18 for Hannover's 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen.

Timmy Chandler is still recovering from a knee injury and was not in the squad for Nurnberg this weekend.

John Anthony Brooks and Hertha Berlin play Mainz later today.

Down in Bundesliga 2, Bobby Wood was in the squad but did not play in 1860 Munich's 4-0 win over Aalen.

Alfredo Morales started and went the distance in Ingolstadt's 1-1 draw with Union Berlin.

In the English Championship

Neither Brek Shea nor Eric Lichaj were in their respective squads for Barnsley's 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest. However, there was news about both.

On Monday, the Stoke Sentinel reported that Shea was being investigated for an inappropriate gesture toward fans. Shea took to Twitter later in the week apologize.

For Lichaj, it was announced this week that he is facing groin surgery to repair a recent injury.

Tim Ream played 90 minutes at left-back in Bolton's 5-1 win over Leeds. Stuart Holden returned to action for Bolton on Monday in a U-21 game, but went off injured. It is feared that he has torn his ACL once again.

Both Jonathan Spector and Will Packwood started and went the distance this week in Birmingham's 2-0 loss to QPR.

Danny Williams wasn't part of Reading's squad for their 1-1 draw with Brighton.

Both Duane Holmes and Oguchi Onyewu started for their respective sides as Yeovil beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-0. Holmes played 67 minutes; Onyewu went the distance.

Elsewhere in Europe

Aron Johannsson scored twice in AZ Alkmaar's 4-0 win over Heracles.

Alejandro Bedoya played 66 minutes in Nantes' 2-2 draw with Ajaccio. There was some bad news this week, however, for Nantes, as they were hit with a 16-month transfer ban.

Juan Agudelo and Utrecht lost 1-0 to PSV Eindhoven. Agudelo came off the bench in the 61st minute.

Terrence Boyd played 90 minutes for Rapid Vienna, who tied 1-1.
