Sevilla officially completed a transfer for Juventus' Fernando Llorente on Thursday, finding a replacement for last year's top striker, Carlos Bacca, before the end of the summer transfer window.

Sevilla confirmed the deal on Twitter, as translated by AS:

Having fallen down the pecking order in Turin, the Spanish international will be hoping to rekindle his career in Spain. The player himself posted the following farewell message on his Twitter feed:

It has been a great pleasure to live the last two years in the Juventus. Thanks a lot for all the support. http://t.co/CYsA0lulZU

The Europa League winners lost Bacca to AC Milan earlier in the window, and while Kevin Gameiro has done an admirable job as a starter this season, the Frenchman is a more natural fit off the bench.

Llorente now returns to his native La Liga, which OptaJose illustrated as a particularly strong hunting ground for the striker in terms of headed goals:

After managing just nine goals in 45 outings last season, the forward has a long way to go before restoring his reputation as one of Europe's hottest strikers.

Bleacher Report's Adam Digby cites Llorente's wages as being one of the factors that works well for Juve in ridding themselves of the player, detailing his drop-off in form during the 2014-15 campaign:

(2/3) One of the club's highest-paid players, there's is no denying Llorente's on-field production fell off massively in 2014/15

With fellow summer signings Yevhen Konoplyanka and Ciro Immobile also moving to Seville, Llorente is sure to receive the kind of service from which he's profited in the past.

Here’s a look at what Llorente is capable of when on top form:

Juventus added Mario Mandzukic, Paulo Dybala and Simone Zaza during the summer, and with Alvaro Morata also in store for major minutes, Llorente's move away from the Bianconeri was almost guaranteed.

For Sevilla, the former Athletic Bilbao man will bring something different to the first XI. At his best, Llorente is an elegant target man, a wonderful foil for intricate midfielders and a player who's clinical in front of goal.

As we can see here, courtesy of WhoScored.com, Llorente is a powerhouse in the air too:

While the striker has always been considered one of the most capable forwards on the continent, he’s never quite lived up to the early potential that was on display during his time in La Liga. Llorente is 30 years old, so this move likely represents his last chance of making a major impression at the top level.

Sevilla will have to play to his strengths; Juve were never a prolific crossing side. If they do, Llorente can lead the line and enhance the talents of others around him. He's terrific at holding up the ball and an underrated technician inside the box, creating plenty of space for others.

After a tumultuous spell in Turin, the Spaniard should be hungry to prove himself at Sevilla. Provided he gets the requisite minutes on the field and service he thrives on, Llorente is a player who could enjoy a late flourish to a career that hasn’t quite scaled the heights many expected.
