Football players of the Brazilian Atlético Mineiro won the Libertadores Cup for the first time in the club's history, after they beat Paraguay's Olimpia 4:3 on the night between Wednesday and Thursday, our time, after a penalty shootout, while in the regular part it was 2:0.
Olimpia won the first game with 2:0, but Atletico Mineiro managed to win in the second leg with the same score with goals from Jo in the 47th minute and Leonardo Silva in the 87th minute.
There were no goals after extra time, so the winner was decided by a penalty shootout.
Atlético goalkeeper Viktor saved the first penalty from Ermini Miranda, and after that the players were accurate.
Goals for Atletico were scored by Alexandro, Guillerme, Jo and Leonardo Silva, and for Olimpia by Juan Ferreira, Salustiano Candia and Lorenzo Aranda.
In the fifth series, Olympia's Matias Jimenez hit the post, and Atletico won the first Libertadores Cup in the club's history.
On the other hand, Olimpija was trying to win the fourth trophy, the first since 2002.
