The son of an Iraqi war hero from the Iran-Iraq War, Sayid served as a communications officer in the Iraqi Republican
Guard and is skilled radio and mechanical engineer. Sayid's character on Lost is frequently defined by his ethnicity,
and the assumptions other characters make about it. He is somewhat of a silent leader, he gives his opinions
to small groups he trusts without coming out and directly giving orders to people on the island.
He is not afraid to take drastic measures is necessary when in a bind.
