FIFA World Cup 2022 Brazil vs South Korea Highlights: Neymar scored a goal in his return from injury and Brazil beat South Korea 4-1 to advance to the quarterfinals of the World Cup on Monday. Neymar converted a first-half penalty for his 76th goal with Brazil and move one shy of Pelé all-time scoring record with the national team.
The 82-year-old Pelé said he was going to watch the match on television while hospitalized in Brazil to treat a respiratory infection. Vinícius Júnior, Richarlison and Lucas Paquetá also scored in the first half for Brazil, which made it to the quarterfinals of the World Cup for the eighth straight time.
South Korea was trying to advance past the round of 16 for the first time since its historic run as a co-host in 2002, when it made it to the semifinals and ended up fourth. Paik Seung-ho scored South Korea’s goal in the 76th minute.
And it's all over. Brazil are safely through to the next round without hiccups and will face Croatia next. That will be a mouthwatering clash.

Free kick for Brazil in a good position as Neymar is bundled over. Casemiro, Neymar and Raphinha are standing over the ball. And Raphinha shoots and it hits the wall and goes behind for a corner.

And that's back to back shots from Brazil. Raphinha snbakes away from the Korean defenders, gets a bit of room and places a low shot which is saved by the goalie. Vinicius gets the ball back and shoots wide.

Brazil are hovering around the Korean box now, playing a string of passes frm one side to another. Loose from Vinicius and it sets Korea off but Brazil take it back and start their own counter. Ultimately Raphinha's attempted cross is off him for a goal kick.

And the first salvo of the 2nd half goes to Korea as Son runs behind Marquinhos and shoots which is saved by Alisson for a corner. Nothing off it though.

What a beautiful goal!!!! That is Brazil in a nutshell. Richarlison kept the ball alive with a keepy up on his head, he passes the ball to Marquinhos who plays it back to Casemiro who slides it to Richarlison who slots it home comfortably.

On and on Neymar goes, deep inside the Korean penalty box. He had support on either side but he takes it on himself before the ball is taken off his toes for a corner. Nothing off it ultimately.

It's gone worse for Korea who have conceded a penalty three minutes after conceding a goal. There's not much contact to Richarlison's boot but the Brazilian striker goes down nonetheless. Neymar steps to the spot -- a return to action after missing two group games and sporting a new haircut.
The South Korean keeper plays some games of his own, not moving from the right spot of the goal. He slowly comes to the middle as Neymar starts his run up but is unable to stop the Brazilian as he passes the ball into his right bottom corner. Brazil lead by two goals and the Koreans may have been knocked out of this match within the first ten minutes.

The energy of Rafinha leads him to shrug of a challenge on the right and cut the ball back. That pass wades past a sea of bodies to Vinicius Jr, who takes his time to control the ball and then deposit it into the far post corner. Korea have a game to chase.
Lots of direct ball used by the Koreans but their strikers have to reel in their runs if they are to have any impact on the proceedings. Another offside as Brazil break from the free kick.
And Raphinha gets the ball in the right flank and just cushions in a pass in the middle. Misses everyone but Vinicius Jr, who takes a touch and dinks it over the Korean keeper.

It's end to end at the moment as Son runs down the flank and is cut off and then on the other end, Richarlison cushions a pass to Neymar, only for the PSG striker to be crowded off.

South Korea were in the brink of a Group Stage exit after failing to win their first two matches. They drew 0-0 against Uruguay and lost a close encounter 2-3 against Ghana. In the last game of the group stage, they came back from the death by shocking Portugal while Uruguay defeated Ghana, which cleared Korea's path to the Round Of 16.
Brazil started the tournament with a 2-0 victory against Serbia. After the match, they lost Neymar for the next two games due to injury. Next up against Switzerland, they defeated them 1-0 after a late casemiro goal. They would ultimately lose a match against Cameroon in the last game of the group stage.

South Korea coach Paulo Bento made two changes to his starting 11, replacing Kwon Kyung-won and Lee Kang-in with defender Kim Min-jae and forward Hwang Hee-chan, who was the hero of their comeback 2-1 win against Portugal, coming off the bench to score the winner in stoppage time.
Brazil forward Neymar will start for the five-times champions in their World Cup last-16 match against South Korea on Monday after recovering from an ankle injury.
Full back Danilo was also cleared to play and will start on the left side of defence, as both Alex Sandro and Alex Telles were ruled out by injuries.
Both Neymar and Danilo suffered ankle injuries in Brazil's opening 2-0 win over Serbia, which meant they missed the 1-0 win over Switzerland and the 1-0 defeat by Cameroon, when coach Tite rotated his team to keep most of his key players fresh.
Centre back Eder Militao, who replaced Danilo at right back against Switzerland, will play against South Korea in the same role.
Tottenham teammates clash tonight as Son and Richarlison go head to head. A mouthwatering match awaits but a larger story will be at play as the EPL undercurrent flows deep through this match.
