Our Illinois teams are doing very well. Seven Illinois Presidents Cup champions and six Illinois State Cup champion teams advanced to the US Youth Soccer nationals. Congratulations to Galaxy SC (17U Boys) and NSA Shock (19U Girls) for winning the 2018 US Youth Soccer National Championship and to finalist Campton United (18U Girls) who narrowly missed first place by one goal. Congratulations to US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup National Champions Illinois Premier Aces Blue (15U Girls), Chicago Rush (17U Girls), and Green White SC (18U Girls). The Illinois Youth Soccer Women’s Team won the 2018 Flo Dyson U23 Women’s Open Cup. 18 Illinois teams qualified for the 2018/19 US Youth Soccer National League. With the delayed introduction of the new US Soccer Grassroots courses, our coaching staff had to meet the challenges of implementing new courses and getting licensed as instructors. We conducted over 40 grassroots courses, three D courses and numerous grassroots clinics to member recreational leagues. Thanks to the Federation’s Innovate to Grow grant, we developed and implemented the 1t Kick program for 2-6 year olds at Addams Park in Chicago. The IYSA will host a Grassroots Instructors License course in March. Beginning next fall, US Soccer reported that the Development Academy will no longer offer U12 programming. This is an opportunity for our membership to operate US Soccer Development Academy standards-based Zone 1 programming that is focused on their standards and certification. Although we were impacted by the US Soccer Girls Development Academy, our Olympic Development Program has grown and continues to offer opportunities and advanced training for our players under the US Soccer guidelines. In addition to several inter-state ODP friendlies, our 2002/03 Illinois ODP boys and girls team will be participating in an international competition in Barcelona, Spain. In conjunction with Illinois ODP, the IYSA is offering an identification and training program for eligible, ambulant Paralympic athletes aged 14-18 who have one of the following neurological conditions: stroke, cerebral palsy, traumatic/acquired brain injury. Thanks in large part to the US Soccer Foundation grant, we continue to provide FREE after school Soccer for Success (SFS) programs to at-risk children in Chicago for over 20 years. From the nearly 1000 players participating in our programs in 24 elementary schools in Chicago we were able to create five travel teams that play in IWSL and YSSL and special appreciation is extended to them. We continue to support the women’s game and to provide opportunities for the
top players who came out of our programs. We conducted a U23 Women’s team and co-sponsored with the IWSL the Chicago Red Stars Reserve team. We thank the Chicago Red Stars and the Chicago Fire for making dreams come true for our home-grown players. Every year we recognize the players, coaches, referees and volunteers at our annual awards banquet who are a testament to and an integral part of Illinois Youth Soccer’s success. We are looking forward to seeing you at the United Soccer Coaches Convention, the largest soccer coaches’ convention, that is being held in conjunction with US Youth Soccer on January 10-13, 2019 at McCormick Place in Chicago. We want to thank all of our leagues, both recreational and competitive, for making changes that enhance the experience for the players. Our recreational leagues provide the beginning players their first soccer experience and teach them to love of the game. The IWSL continues to be the leading girls’ league in Illinois and the YSSL is the largest boys’ league in Illinois. SLYSA-IL is the biggest league in Southern Illinois. Central Illinois Youth Soccer League continues to dominate the Central Counties and ILLOWA the Iowa border. As the Illinois Youth Soccer and US Youth Soccer Midwest TOPSoccer Director Shawn Danhouser continues his outreach to provide soccer programs to children with special needs that culminate with the annual TOPSoccer Summerfest. Once again, I remind everyone about having compassion for the young referees, nearly 50% of whom are new every year. We implemented a robust youth referee mentoring program to educate the beginning officials to deal with the constant challenges and to stay in the game. Once again, we encourage the adults to support the emerging referees, the majority of whom are our children, by giving them the opportunity to develop on the field and learn from their mistakes. Our foremost responsibility continues to be player safety. Over the years we have been in the forefront of Goal Safety, Background Checks and Concussion Awareness. It is the policy of Illinois Youth Soccer and its members to comply with state and federal laws including but not limited to Protecting Young Victims from Sexual Abuse and Safe Sport Authorization Act that was passed by Congress earlier this year. Additionally the IYSA Board has prohibited any person who is younger than 18 years of age from moving goals. We appreciate your continued support and ask you to keep in mind that thoughtful changes can help us be a more viable and relevant organization. Thank you for your support and consideration.

Training & Identification Program By Marek Radziszewski, Illinois Youth Soccer Associate Director Of Coaching
I
llinois Youth Soccer Association is very proud of our Olympic Development Program (ODP). Casey Short (Chicago Red Stars) and Brad Guzan (Atlanta United) both used the Illinois ODP as a springboard to play on their respective United States National Teams. A very impressive list of professional players who have participated in the Illinois ODP program is available on our website. The Olympic Development Program is considered one of the highest levels of competition in the state and provides young soccer players with a great opportunity not only to showcase their skills and compete against other talented Illinois players, but also provides a realistic chance to be identified for a State Select Team and represent us in multiple venues. Every year, players are being evaluated by the ODP professional staff of coaches. The identification process starts with the first practice and ends at the conclusion of the program, with the most elite players being selected for the Regional Camp, where they compete for a position on the Midwest Regional Team. Players can then be identified by US Soccer staff coaches for possible entry to the National Team program. Yet even those players who do not make the Midwest Region or the National Team pools, often use ODP as a path to college scholarships and professional soccer. The opportunities are endless, and the experience is unforgettable. As a coach, I consider myself very lucky to be part of this inclusive, challenging and professional environment. Every year we work very hard to assemble a top-notch coaching staff to provide our players with the best experience possible. I am proud to announce that in addition to our College, High School and Club coaches we have added a few who actually have World Cup playing experience and/or are currently working with the highest professional leagues in the United States. Better coaches = better environment = better players. The 2018-19 season kicked off with a bang and a tremendous sense of excitement from players, parents and coaches as we added a new “International Experience” to our program. Two teams will travel to Barcelona during Spring Break for unbelievable soccer and educational experience. The goal is to provide more opportunities and send multiple teams in the following years as we try to

LSA FC 1974, FC United & NSA lead an impressive showing of Illinois teams at the 2018 US Youth Soccer Midwest Regional Championships winning regional titles at 14U Girls, 15U Boys, 19U Boys and 19U Girls. Overall, Illinois teams showed very well at the regional event going a combined 50-24-7. In addition to the four champions, Illinois also had three regional finalists: Galaxy SC (17U
B), Campton United (18U G) and Lyons Township SC (19U B) and four semifinalists: Raiders FC (13U B), FC United Pre-Academy (13U G), Chicago Fire Jrs City (15U B) and FC United (18U G). GLSA pulled out a narrow win against Michigan Jaguars 04 Green in the 14U Girls final. Michigan took a 1-0 lead into halftime but GLSA netted the equalizer in the 42nd minute with a goal from Meghan Mrowicki. In
the final minutes of the game, Avery Gleason scored to give GLSA the lead and the 2-1 win. In the 15U Boys final, it took the final minute for either team to find the back of the net. In the 80th minute, Tommy Zipprich scored to give FC United the lead. Connor Burkett of Kalamazoo Kingdom SC 03 tied it seconds later to send the game to overtime. FC United out-shot Kalamazoo in PK’s for the championship win.
In an all Illinois 19U Boys Final, FC United 1999 Select 1 and LTSC Union Showcase 99/00 faced off. In the 20th minute Reilly Walsh scored to give FC United the 1-0 lead. Ryan Kruegger scored in the 36th minute, extending the lead to two. With just three minutes left in the first half, Josiah Ash found the back of the net to give FC United the 3-0 lead at halftime, which held till the conclusion of the match.

Illinois Teams Reign Supreme Winning 7 of 14 US Youth Soccer Midwest Presidents Cup Titles

wenty teams went to West Chester, OH to represent Illinois at the 2018 US Youth Soccer Midwest President Cup and seven of them returned home as Midwest Presidents Cup Champions. Shadow Premier (14U Boys), IP Aces Blue (15U Girls), FC United Select Black (16U Boys), Chicago Rush (17U Boys & 17U Girls), Green White SC (18U Girls) and FC United Select 1 (19U Girls). Overall, Illinois teams showed very well at the regional event going a combined 53-17-9 Shadow Premier FC began its final match against CUSA Crew SC NPL slowly. CUSA put the early pressure on Shadow with multiple chances to score but Shadow held strong defensively to keep the game knotted at zero. The teams went to halftime all tied at zero. Coming out the half, Shadow brought more energy and fought hard. Finally, in the 73rd minute of a scoreless game, Isaac Reveles scored to give Shadow the lead. They held on to the slim lead to earn the win and the 14U Boys Regional title. The 15U Girls final match between MN Thunder Academy 03 Hartwell (MN) and IP Aces Blue started quick off the whistle. Just four minutes in to the game, Avery Larson put a shot on goal that found the back of the net to give IP the early 1-0 lead. MN Thunder kept fighting in the second half yet were unable to find the back of the net. IP was able to hold MN Thunder scoreless and win the final 1-0. After advancing to the Regional event via a Wild Card, FC United 2002 Select Black earned a spot in the Presidents Cup finale and squared off against St. Louis Gallagher White (MO). In the 28th minute, Alex White was able to take advantage of a chance and give FC United the 10 lead. Four minutes later, Luis Garduno netted a goal to give FC United an early 2-0 lead that they held on for the win. In the 17U Boys group, the final match between Chicago Rush 2001 Select and Millennium

Soccer Academy 01 Black (IN) came down to the final 10 minutes of play. In the 81st minute Brandon Palid found the back of the net for the first goal of the game and his fourth of the tournament to give Rush the late lead. Rush held on to the slim lead to win the 17U Boys final. Chicago Rush Select was crowned champions of the 18U Girls group after a low-scoring affair against CUSE Elite (OH-S). The game went back and forth in the early going, but in the 38th minute Katrina Barthelt scored her seventh goal of the tournament to give Rush the lead. In the 78th minute, Payton Siragusa found the goal to extend Rush’s lead. Both teams battled till the end, but Rush was able to hold on to earn its fourth win and finish the tournament undefeated. In a close low scoring game, Green White earned the title of 2018 Midwest Presidents Cup 18U Girls champions against SBW Alliance 2000 in an all Illinois battle. It was not until the 76th minute when Ashley Adams was able to get a shot passed the goalie to give Green White the late 1-0 lead. SBW kept fighting till the end, but Green White was able to maintain the lead and win the game. The 19U Girls wrapped up play at the 2018 Midwest Presidents Cup in a finals rematch from 2017 with FC United 1999 Select against KC Fusion Matthews 99 (KS). In the 31st minute, Julia Hamill of FC United was awarded a free kick which she put on goal, but the shot hit the goalie and the rebound was put in by Edina Taerbaum to give FC United the lead. Just three minutes later KC Fusion found the equalizer off of a free kick from Kelly Kleekamp. There was early pressure put on KC Fusion in the second half that led to a goal in the 49th minute by Chloe Cappas to give FC United the one goal lead. The game was hard fought back and forth till the end, but a late cross from Grace Hardy in the 78th minute led to a Julia Hamill goal to secure the win and redemption for FC United.

New Illinois Paralympic Development Program
I
llinois Youth Soccer is proud to offer a first-of-its-kind player identification and training program for Paralympic eligible athletes to prepare and showcase them for collegiate and US Soccer national team selection.
Opportunities for youth Paralympic athletes to train and play in a competitive environment with their peers in the 7vs7 game formats utilized at the Collegiate, Olympic and International competitions are extremely limited. This new program has been developed to create teams for these athletes to develop their skill sets and offer opportunities to showcase their talents in the game environments for identification by next level coaches.
This new competitive training and playing environment will be known as the Paralympic Development Program and will utilize the same coaching staff and training curriculum used for Olympic Development Program (ODP) elite youth soccer players.
Paralympic Development Programs players will train alongside their ODP peers to leverage learning opportunities for both groups. To be eligible to play, athletes must be age 14-18, ambulant (no requirement for assistive walking aids), and have one of the following neurological conditions: • Have had a Stroke • Have Cerebral Palsy • Have had a Traumatic Brain Injury / Acquired Brain Injury Training and games will be held at the Schaumburg Park District Sports Center starting in January 2019. M
any are familiar with TOPSoccer and how it benefits athletes with special needs. What is often forgotten is that the program also serves another community of people just as much, our TOPSoccer volunteer Buddies. Without the involvement of the buddies, the program doesn’t have the impact that it does. Buddies provide stability and support for the athletes while facilitating the socialization benefit that is just as important to everyone involved. While soccer provides the vehicle for bringing athletes and buddies together, it is the interaction on a personal level where the magic happens. Working together, persevering together and celebrating success together can be a deeply emotional bond. Many buddies have remarked in the past that they think they get more out of the program than the athletes do.

Being a buddy serves the individual in several ways including; serving their community, bonding with teammates, giving back to the game they love and learning that they have more in common with those with special needs than differences. Having a team become involved can be great for team bonding as well. The Barrington High School Boys Soccer team has been involved with TOPSoccer for a few years now and here is how their team manager reflects on their involvement: “The boys have a great time-sharing stories, music and just getting to know each other better during the car ride to TOPSoccer and on the way back they talk about their experience and successes. It is heartwarming to see the older players coach the younger players on being a mentor and buddy for the TOPSoccer players. I see the joy and sense of pride the boys get from working with the TOPSoccer players – from the little successes, to the smiles, fist bumps, hugs, and of course celebrating goals.” – Beth F. It’s not only teenagers that benefit from being a buddy. TOPSoccer always benefits from having coaches involved as well. TOPSoccer allows coaches to fill their emotional gas tank by being on the field with players without the pressures of winning and meeting parent expectations. There aren’t the awkward

Host A Grassroots Courses The new Grassroots coaching courses continue to grow from our starting point in February 2018. We have now completed 40 plus Grassroots courses.
Grassroots Licensing Coaching Pathway Replacing E License The E License is no longer offered and their is a new Grassroots Course to replace that license. Current E License holders will not need to take this course. Please see below the new competitive course steps for coaches wanting to coach competitively.

Complete details on hosting a course can be found on our website. Illinois Youth Soccer can also host a coaching course for the coaching staff of a member club at a reduced cost. It is very exciting to know that so many new players have joined our program. 1,000 players are involved in this year’s ODP, which kicked off November 11 at the Indoor Sports Center in Rockford and the Sports Center in Schaumburg. All players will receive complete evaluations by the end of April. For the 2002-2007 age groups we will create the State Select Teams and the State Pool Teams to represent the state in Tournaments. For the 2002-2006 age groups, players from the top teams will be selected to participate in the Midwest Region ODP ID camp in July. The 2007-2009 age groups will come to NIU on June 23-26 for the IL ODP Development Camp. 2002-2006 age groups will be invited to NIU June 28-30 for the IL ODP Summer Camp. NATIONAL Galaxy SC & NSA Shock Win US Youth Soccer National Championships
T
wo teams from Illinois, Galaxy SC & NSA Shock, proved to be the country’s best, winning a US Youth Soccer National Championship. It was the first US Youth National Championship for an Illinois team since 2015 and the second National championship win for both clubs. Galaxy hoisted the Don Greer Cup in 2012 as 17U Boys champions and NSA were 17U Girls champs in 2011. Galaxy 2001 Blue defeated the defending National Champion, Tampa Bay United (FL), 4-2 in overtime to claim the 17U Boys 2018 US Youth Soccer National Championship title. Earlier in the tournament, Tampa Bay defeated Galaxy, 3-1, in group play, but the championship matchup was a different game. Galaxy struck first in the 10th minute when a long throw-in was flicked on by a Galaxy player and Cameron Strang was there to volley the ball in at the near post. The Illinois side did not have a lot of time to enjoy the lead as Tampa Bay served a long diagonal ball for Trevor Stanley six minutes later, and Stanley brought the ball down for a left-footed shot into the top right corner. Tampa Bay took control of the game and stole the lead when Brennan Breuer sent a low driven shot from inside the 18-yard box. Just as Tampa Bay was about to win the game, in the 90th minute, the ball found its way to Galaxy's Kyle Blasingame in Tampa Bay's 18-yard box, and Blasingame took the open shot. Two minutes into the first overtime period, Galaxy regained the lead when the ball was played into the box, and Evan Lang was there to pass the ball into the goal. Galaxy sealed the win with a Nick Renfro goal, as he redirected a corner kick into the net

“In the championship game, the greatest pride I felt was that even though we were down and time was running out we found a way to equalize with less than a minute left in the game,” said Jay Konrad, Galaxy Head Coach. “Coming out for OT, the focus the kept was tremendous. We were tremendously successful all summer with our restarts both on winning the first ball and finding the second. The game winner by Evan Lange was a perfect example of his movement to find the second ball and slot it past the keeper. After that, Nick Renfro scored from another restart to lock up the 4-2 victory.” “Winning a National Championship is special for every group that does it, for us, the amazing part is that most of the boys have been together their entire soccer lives” Konrad said. “This is truly a group of boys that have worked daily to improve and not let each down. At Galaxy, we are extremely proud of how the boys represent their school community in the fall on their high school soccer teams for three months and then come to use and represent the Galaxy community for the other nine months.” NSA Shock took a 2-0 victory over Utah FC 99 Black (UT) to claim the 19U Girls National Championship. With the two teams playing to a 1-1 draw on Thursday in group play, there had to be a clear winner on Saturday night. The Illinois side went up 1-0 in the 23rd minute as Erin Flynn took a corner kick, and although the ball was headed out, Flynn picked up the rebound and launched the ball at the goal for a far post finish. In the 37th minute, NSA earned some breathing room when an initial shot was blocked by the Utah FC goalkeeper, but in a crowded 18-yard box, Abby Swanson sent the ball into the goal. Utah FC came out of halftime with the determination to get back into the game, keeping the ball in NSA's defensive end for the majority of the half. Utah FC nearly cut into NSA's lead when the ball was laid off for an open shot at the goal, but NSA goalkeeper Isabella Alessio came off her line to block the ball and gain control of it. Alessio came up big in a few other instances, ultimately playing a huge role in NSA's shutout victory. "The last 20 minutes, we were just trying to hold together," Alessio said. "The center backs and I were trying to hold everything together. Everything was just going so fast. We just needed to slow it down."

L CHAMPS IP Arlington Aces, Chicago Rush & Green White SC Earn National Presidents Cup Titles
I
t’s not an easy task to win a US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup, especially for teams from Illinois. Teams from the Land Of Lincoln have to first get through a very difficult state event. Their reward for winning a state title, teams move on to not only face state winners from the Midwest but also determined Wild Card teams looking for redemption, often from Illinois. Midwest Regional champs then advance to the US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup where they go face-to-face with the best from the East, South & West. Three teams from Illinois, IP Aces Blue, Chicago Rush and Green White SC proved more than up for the challenge and earned their spot atop the Presidents Cup mountain. What makes the feat even more impressive is the fact that all three won their championship match, 1-0.

IP Aces Blue followed up a big win in their final group play match that earned them a spot in the final with a 1-0 victory against HFC Ready 03 (PA-E) in the 15U Girls National championship game. Neither side managed to generate a breakthrough goal as the game entered its final minutes. With overtime looming, Josie Bieda found the back of the net in the 73rd minute to give IP Aces a late lead. The Illinois side, which dropped a tight decision to HFC to open the tournament, held on in the final moments of the match to earn the 1-0 win. “It is a difficult excitement to explain,” Dwayne Cruz, Aces Head Coach said. “It’s seven years in the making and we are still on the ride. The great part about it is that this team has been together for 7 years and been thru some difficult times at a young age with losing games because we only cared about development not winning games. So the loyalty of the parents and children is amazing. They didn’t jump ship like most travel players do when teams lose, they had faith in our development philosophy and it has payed off. This is such a special group of families because of the process. They have seen it all, if you ask them, they can tell you parents shouldn’t worry about winning before 15 years old because it doesn’t matter.” In another one goal final match, Chicago Rush Select held off NUSA Maroon (TN) to win the 17U Girls National Presidents Cup championship. After a scoreless first half, the 17U Girls leading scorer, Brooke Brodzinski scored her sixth goal of the event in the 49th minute. Similar to Friday’s matchup between the two teams, one point separated the two teams, and Brodzinski was the one to

Inner City Programs Impact Over 1,000 Children Each Year
I
llinois Youth Soccer has been providing FREE after school soccer-based programs to at-risk children living in Chicago for over 20 years. These programs impact approximately 1000 children annually, including girls, for whom there are few sportbased team activities. 90% of the participants are Hispanic or African American, 90% are eligible for free/reduced school lunch, 55% are considered overweight or obese.

With support from the US Soccer Foundation, Illinois Youth Soccer conducts the Soccer for Success Program using US Soccer certified coaches that receive training that includes a nutritional based curriculum and mentorship. Coaches serves as mentors, both on and off the field, for the Soccer for Success participants. The program provides at least 60 minutes of exercise, 3 times a week utilizing quality, sports-based youth skill development methods that focus on developing leadership, teamwork, respect, dedication, hard work, selfesteem and improved behavior. It engages
parents and families to become advocates for a healthy life style and education. The program has demonstrated an increase in test scores, attendance and improvements in Pacer test performance and participants have regularly seen a reduction in their Body Mass Index. The US Youth Soccer National League Midwest Conference is one of 13 Conferences under the US Youth Soccer National Leagues Program in the Multi-State Tier. The Midwest Conference consists of teams primarily from Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota. US Youth Soccer National League

he US Youth Soccer National League competition is for the nation's top teams in the 14U, 15U, 16U, 17U, 18U and 19U boys and girls age groups. The 14U through 18U divisions consist of up to 32 teams per gender age group, while the 19U age group features up to 16 teams for each gender. The National League offers additional exposure to collegiate, professional and U.S. National Team coaches and offers the highest level of competition in the country as each team must earn their place in the league. There are three means to earning automatic qualification into the National League: 72 Regional Championship winners/finalists/ representative; 96 returning National League division top finishers, 168 Regional League qualifiers. How To Become A Referee The Illinois Soccer Referee Committee would like to invite anyone interested to become a referee. Anyone 12 years of age or older is eligible to become a US Soccer referee, but MUST be 12 years old on or before March 31, 2019 to officiate in 2019. Clinics for new referees are conducted January through March and are currently being posted for 2019. This is a great opportunity to earn extra money, gain work experience, develop people and time-management skills, and build confidence.
In addition, the Illinois Soccer Referee Committee has established two Mentoring Programs (one for referees who are ready for US Soccer-affiliated higher level games or adult matches, and one for younger referees who are currently doing US Soccer-affiliated youth matches). The Adult Mentoring Program is geared to referees who have advanced or on the verge of advancing to games at a

Awards Banquet
Each year Illinois Youth Soccer honors a great collection of individuals who have made a significant impact both on and off the soccer field in the state of Illinois at the annual Awards Banquet. It was great evening of celebrating the award winners and celebrating the beautiful game with the Illinois soccer community.
The 26th Annual Illinois Youth Soccer Awards Banquet will be held on March 1 at the Stonegate Conference Centre in Hoffman Estates. Tickets can be purchased thru the Illinois Youth Soccer office.

PRESIDENTS CUP NATIONAL CHAMPS put away the game winner. Despite NUSA putting Chicago Rush under pressure for the remainder of the half, the Tennessee side couldn’t get the equalizer, and Chicago Rush became National Presidents Cup champions. “It's an amazing accomplishment for the team and our club to win our first National Championship, I couldn't have been prouder of the girls and the journey they took to get to the title game,” Jonny Collins, Rush Head Coach said. “After winning our State championship, competing well enough in Regionals to qualify for Nationals was an achievement in and of itself. This is our (Chicago Rush's) first ever team to make it to a National competition, all of the girls knew this was an incredible accomplishment and trained hard leading up to the final weekend.This was a group of girls who were only able to train 2-3 times together leading up to Regionals and Nationals and so they knew going into it they would have to make up for lack of training chemistry with hard work, focus, discipline and tremendous on the field communication and they did just that. Green White SC bounced back from a day three defeat to Sting Timbers 00/01 (ID) to win the rematch, 1-0, and earn the 18U Girls title. In the 68th minute, Dylan Van Fleet scored her third goal of the tournament to give Green White SC a key opening goal. The Timbers pushed for an equalizer in the last 20 minutes of the game, as it pushed up players and played several balls into the Illinois side’s penalty area. However, Green White SC’s defense did not allow any clean looks at goal, as it held on for the 1-0 victory.
“What made the experience special was a couple of unique factors,” Jay Bulev, Green White Head Coach started. “First, we lost in the state final in November on penalty kicks which was heartbreaking, but we were invited to Regionals as a wild card. In the regional final we faced the same team, SBW Alliance, we lost to in the state final, but we were able to score in the second half and hold on until the end for the 1-0 win. Second, some of the players on this team have played together for over five years and had previously lost in the quarterfinals and finals of the President’s Cup, so for them to come together and win this tournament after all of the hard work and years playing together, was extra special. The camaraderie, teamwork and effort the girls showed during the state, regional, and national games was exemplary and was capped off by them also winning the Fair Play award in national championship.” “Our defensive effort in the final was what ultimately won the game,” Bulev added. “We had played the same team and lost the day before, which actually helped us prepare more effectively for the final.” With the amount of team success, it was no surprise to see many players from the National champion teams recognized for their individual achievements on the field From IP Aces, Avery Larson was awarded the Golden Boot for the 15U Girls age division and Lilly Collins the Golden Glove as the best goalkeeper in her age group. With her six goals it was no surprise to see Rush’s Brodzinski win the Golden Boot and following here clutch score in the National final, Green White’s Van Fleet also earned the Golden Boot.

The Youth Mentoring Program is geared to younger referees (ages 16-21) who are doing exclusively youth games but have a desire to learn and advance their referee career. ISRC’s goal for this program is to help identify and provide opportunities for referees to improve, and ultimately become eligible to be selected for State Cup, President’s Cup, MRL, and other Youth Regional events. Many of our Adult and Youth Mentoring Program Referees were selected for both Adult and Youth Regional and National Events this year.
