Enzo Fernández spoke about the World Cup qualifiers with the Argentina national team.

Fernández won the World Cup with the Argentina national team and won the Best Young Player of the tournament but he has never played a World Cup qualifying match. Speaking in an interview with TyC Sports, here is what he had to say about the qualifiers:

“A new path begins, the commitment remains the same, we enjoyed the past a lot, we know that becoming world champions is not easy. The qualifiers are very important matches for us and to continue showing that we are ready for great things.”

He was also asked about the different positions he plays with Argentina and at his club Chelsea:

“They are different positions, I’m playing a little further forward, it doesn’t change anything. I don’t have a problem, it’s a big difference. As a five, you have to stay more with the defenders.

“The important thing is that all those chosen by him (Lionel Scaloni) are here, we are in the best shape and we are going to work for the qualifiers, which are important.”

On what Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni told the players:

“The qualifiers are always important, we are always going to represent Argentina in the best way. He told us that a new path starts, that the past had passed, with all the desire and mentality to give more to the national team. Ecuador is a great team, physically they are very good.”

Regarding Lionel Messi:

“Nothing is surprising about him, he looks happier, enjoying his family, very happy for him.”
