$59M penthouse is 15 Central Park West’s newest outrageous listing

Looks like the list of New York City’s most expensive homes for sale is getting a new addition: a penthouse in Robert A.M. Stern’s überpricey, überexclusive 15 Central Park West just hit the market with a staggering $59 million ask. It’s not the most expensive apartment to be up for grabs at the Limestone Jesus—this is the same building where an apartment sold for $88 million, after all—but it’s mind-boggling all the same.

While the apartment in question is generically labeled as “a penthouse,” The Real Deal speculates that it belongs to former Barclays CEO Bob Diamond, who snagged a penthouse that seems awfully similar to this one for $37 million back in 2009. If that’s true, then it’s a 40th-floor penthouse spanning 5,300 square feet.

Alas, there are no photos of the space included with the listing, but hel–lo, floorplan porn. There are four bedrooms, five-and-a-half baths, a private 34-foot-long “entry gallery,” a large eat-in kitchen and formal dining room, and a library with its own powder room and bar. There’s no outdoor space, but the master bedroom and living room do have unobstructed Central Park views, so that’s something.

But still: $59 million. For four bedrooms. Keep on keeping on, ridiculous NYC real estate market.
