Bedford Hills artist Juan Fernando Silva's Modern Take on Impressionism in NYC

NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea's Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Bedford artist Juan Fernando Silva in Enigmatic Visions.

The exhibition opens September 16th and will run until October 6th, 2015. The opening reception will take place Thursday, September 17th, from 6-8 PM. Any art lover who enjoys thought-provoking artworks and meeting talented and interesting artists is encouraged to attend.

Juan Fernando Silva finds inspiration in the beauty of everyday life. Silva’s colorful oil painted canvases are both a depiction of moments experienced in the present, and a reflection on the past - particularly the history of Impressionist painting. Painting primarily cityscapes, Silva’s paint dances across the canvas, vibrating with energy. Silva himself cites his upbringing in Buenos Aires as a strong influence on his art because of the colorful artwork and tango dancers that he was surrounded by.

When looking at Silva’s paintings, there are distinct elements to his art. Silva’s use of color is very specific, most frequently using reds, yellows, and blues. Many of his canvases are dominated by one of these colors, creating a mood or implying a time of day. Silva’s brushwork is very distinct, as his marks read like the tempo of music, providing a beat to look at his paintings by. New York City is a great inspiration to Silva, and his lively, colorful canvases reflect the spiritual connection he has with the city.
