Brazilian left-back Alex Sandro is poised to trade the blue and white of Futebol Clube de Porto for the white and black of Massimiliano Allegri’s Juventus after four years in the north of Portugal, making 86 appearances and scoring 5 goals in the process.

Reportedly rejecting offers from the likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid to move to Turin, reports in both Italy and Portugal suggest that the 24-year-old will move to La Vecchia Signora after another solid season at the Estádio do Dragão (click here for a compilation of Alex Sandro’s 2014/15 season).

Missing in action

Rumors have become continually rife amidst the former Santos youngster’s absence at Lopetegui’s most recent training session on Wednesday at Porto’s training ground in Olival; as well as Pinto da Costa’s acquisition of left-back Aly Cissokho on loan from Aston Villa.

Gazzetta dello Sport and Porto-based paper O Jogo have both said Sandro would arrive in Turin later this week after club CEO Beppe Marotta negotiated a €25 million fee (and reportedly as high €30 million) as with the Portuguese giants, with the Porto vice-captain to sign a five-year deal worth three million euros a season, plus bonuses.

Sandro moved to Porto from Santos along with now Real Madrid player Danilo in 2011 for a €10.3 million fee, pinned as Vitor Pereira’s future left-back in place of Cristian Sapunaru and Álvaro Pereira after Andre Villas Boas’ Europa League triumph the season prior.

The Brazilian international joins the likes of Jackson Martinez, Danilo and Ricardo Quaresma in the Dragons’ most recent summer exodus, registering over €100 million in transfer fees.

International stardom an incentive

Brazilian A Seleção coach Dunga has already spoken on the potential move. “Competing in the Champions League with a big club like that will help him mature in terms of the national team,” said the former World Cup winner. “Alex Sandro is a player worthy of Juventus, but I think an experience with a top Serie A club will make him even more complete.”

With greater opportunities in the Canarinhos eleven an incentive having already made six appearances for Brazil, Sandro will look towards competing with the likes of Filipe Luis and Marcelo, as well as taking Patrice Evra’s mantle at Juventus.

Juventus, who won the league and Cup double last season but lost to Barcelona in the final of the Champions League, open the 2015/16 season at home to Udinese on Sunday, with Porto to play CS Marítimo on Saturday evening in the second week of the Primeira Liga.
