"I am back into my normal training programme after the car crash I was involved in recently on my way to Sao Paulo. The crash was pretty serious but I was very lucky and didn’t suffer from any physical injury. I resumed my winter preparation with my coach Nelio Moura and I can now tell you that everything is back to normal.

My first competition has now been scheduled: I will compete in the long jump in Sao Caetano, a city near Sao Paulo, on 22 February. After that I will continue with the training programme my coach and I have been working on. I will compete twice in Europe before going into the World Indoor Championships. I will enter the triple jump in Karlsruhe meeting and then the long jump in Athens.

I am very happy to tell you that I feel very well and have very high hopes for a good result in Birmingham. My intention is to compete in the Long Jump there, whilst I still haven’t decided whether I will enter the triple jump as well or not.

After I’m done with the winter season I will start the second part of my preparations towards what will be the most important competition of the year. My number one goal, as you know, are the World Championships in Paris. I will try and reach the podium in France. After finishing eighth in Seville and then seventh in Edmonton, I feel like I have a lot more experience on my side."

I will talk to you soon

Maurren
